The Rotary Club of Carlisle raises money from donations, fundraising events such as our annual golf tournament, the annual holiday banquet and auction and matching funds from other local charities, Rotary District and Rotary International.  There are MANY beneficiaries of this fundraising from local organizations who receive relatively small grants requested annually, one large grant to a local community service agency and multi year international projects funded with locally collected funds matched at the District and Rotary International levels.

Carlisle Rotary History

Well over a century ago, on February 23, 1905, a Chicago lawyer named Paul Harris met with a mining engineer named Gus Loehr, coal dealer Sylvester Schiele, and Hiram Shorey, a merchant tailor, presenting to them his idea: of forming a club where men of varied professional and business backgrounds could meet and develop broad-ranging friendships. (For those now younger than 40, that means they could "network)." That meeting marked the beginning of the first Rotary Club.
