Carlisle Rotary Club's Students of the Month for 2023-24

Johnathan Gleed
Big Spring High School
May  2024
 
The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Johnathan Gleed as the May Student of the Month.  He is a senior at Big Spring High School and the son of Paul and Kim Gleed of Newville.. He received this recognition for exhibiting outstanding leadership, service, and scholastic achievement to both his school and community.
Johnathan is a member of the Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Concert Choir, District Band, County Band, County Choir, District Jazz Region Band and Pit Band. He is also a Production intern for Big Spring High School, member of the tech crew, Tri-M President (Music Honor Society), Historian of the Future Business Leaders of America club,  Vice President of the National Technical Honor Society,   member of the Student Council and serves as a mentor in the Big Spring Mentor Program. He is a member of both the Varsity Soccer and Track Teams and a founder of the Jam Club and E-club. He also is a saxophone teacher. Jonathan has worked at Saylor's Market for the last several years and has completed over 150 service hours for the community. He will be attending the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University to study Saxophone Performance and Psychology.

Benjamin Snyder
Boiling Springs High School

The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Benjamin Snyder as the April Student of the Month.  He is a senior at Boiling Springs High School and the son of Tim and Julie Snyder of  Carlisle. He received this recognition for exhibiting outstanding leadership, service, and scholastic achievement to both his school and community. Benjamin is ranked second in his class and a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society) and the Technology Student association, currently serving as President of all these organizations. He is also Secretary of the Spanish Club, Treasure of Student Council,  co-president of the Model UN Club and Captain of the Quiz bowl Team. He has served as a Guest Page at the PA State Capitol for Representative Kutz and is a member of the PA Interscholastic Cycling League and the PA 4-H Youth Riflery Program. He works at Liberty Tree Farm and Allenberry Resort. He plans to attend Liberty University and major in Accounting and Pre-law.

Ella Shatz
Carlisle Area  High School

The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Ella Shatz as the March Student of the Month.  She is a senior at Carlisle High School and the daughter of  Antji Pfannkuchen of Carlisle. She received this recognition for exhibiting outstanding leadership, service, and scholastic achievement to both her school and community. Ella is ranked in the top 2% of her class while taking numerous advanced placement classes and attends Dickinson college where she takes art classes. She is a member of the  National Honor Society, the National French Honor Society, the National English Honor Society and Treasurer of the Model UN Club.  She  has been interested in ceramics and pottery for several years and owns a small business on Etsy specializing in ceramics. She also volunteers and teaches ceramics at the Carlisle Arts Learning Center. She has been awarded scholastic gold and silver keys for her achievements in ceramics and photography. Ella plans to attend college at a small liberal arts college.

Brayden Bailey
Big Spring High School

The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Brayden Bailey as the February Student of the Month.  He is a senior at Big Spring High School and the son of Brian and Suzette Bailey of Newville. He received this recognition for exhibiting outstanding leadership, service, and scholastic achievement to both his school and community. Brayden is a member of the Science National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society), TEMPUS (affiliated with the Lion's Club) and a member of The Future Business Leaders of America.  He is also a member of the Concert Band and the Literary Magazine. He is a Peer Tutor and a member of both the Track and Field team and the Soccer team. He is an Eagle Scout, volunteers at Project Share and is a pastor's assistant at St. Peter's  Lutheran  Church.   Brayden  plans to attend college and major in the Architectural field.

Richard Feliciano
Carlisle Area High School

The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Richard Feliciano as the January Student of the Month.  He is a senior at Boiling Springs High School and the son of Edward and Karen Feliciano of Boiling Springs. He received this recognition for exhibiting outstanding leadership, service, and scholastic achievement to both her school and community.  Richard is in the top 5% of his class and is a member of the National Honor Society and an officer in the French Club. He is also a member of the Spanish Club and Model UN Club.  He plans to attend Susquehanna University and major in Secondary Spanish Education with a minor in Applied Linguistics.

Dolly Hritz
Carlisle High School

The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Dolly Hritz as the December Student of the Month.  She is a senior at Carlisle High School and the daughter of Mike and Mary Hritz of Carlisle. She received this recognition for exhibiting outstanding leadership, service, and scholastic achievement to both her school and community. 
     Dolly is ranked number one in her class and is a member of the National Honor Society and the Physics club. She was also a member of the Spanish Honor Society in her junior year and is a member of the swim team.  She works as a lifeguard at the Carlisle YMCA and volunteers there as well as at Messiah Lifeways and Project Share. She plans to attend college and obtain her PhD in chemical engineering. She hopes to one day work in pharmacological research.

Alexis Clouse

The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Alexis Clouse as the November Student of the Month.  She is a senior at Big Spring High School and the daughter of Lisa and Wayne Zimmerman of Newville. She received this recognition for exhibiting outstanding leadership, service, and scholastic achievement to both her school and community.
     Alexis is a member of the National Honor Society, the Student-Athlete Leadership Council and WELIFT, an organization empowering and educating female student athletes. She is also a member of the Swim and Dive team.  She plans to attend college and major in dietetics and nutrition.

                                               Isabel Petula

The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Isabel Petula as the October Student of the Month.  She is a senior at Boiling Springs High School and the daughter of Deanna and Nathan Petula of Mt. Holly Springs. She received this recognition for exhibiting outstanding leadership, service, and scholastic achievement to both her school and community. 
     Isabel is a member of the National Honor Society, the Drama Club, Student Facilities Force and the Art Club. She is also a member of the Varsity Track and Field team, Varsity Cheer and participates in the school musicals. She works as an intern at Craighead House and volunteers at Carlisle Arts Learning Center. She also coaches the little Bubbler Cheer team. She plans to attend college and major in Marketing and Merchandising.

Colby Cox

The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Colby Cox as the September Student of the Month. She is a senior at Carlisle School and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cox of Carlisle. She received this recognition for exhibiting outstanding leadership, service, and scholastic achievement to both her school and community. 
Colby is a member of the National Honor Society and the Secretary of the Spanish Honor Society. She is also the president of the Student Council and a member of the Swim Team. She works as a lifeguard at the Carlisle Swim Club and volunteers at Furry Friends and will be volunteering at UPMC Carlisle in the near future. She plans to attend college and major in neuroscience.
