December 2021
Gabrielle "Ellie" Knapp
Carlisle Area High School
 
 
The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Gabrielle "Ellie" Knapp as the December Student of the Month.  She is a senior at Carlisle High School and the daughter ofAaron and Amy Knapp of Carlisle, PA.  She received this recognition for exhibiting outstanding leadership, service, and scholastic achievement to both her school and community. Ellie is a member of the Academic Decathlon team, the school choir and captain of the Field Hockey team. She volunteers tutoring students in Kenya via the internet and volunteers at Project Share. Her interests include drama, poetry and debate. She plans to attend college to major in international relations and economics with her goal to work at the United Nations. The Carlisle Rotary Club honors extraordinary students each month from Big Spring, South Middleton, and Carlisle School Districts.

Kennedy Sheriff

The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Kennedy Sheriff as the November Student of the Month.  She is a senior at Big Spring High School and the daughter of John Sheriff and Sarah Long of Shippensburg, PA.  She received this recognition for exhibiting outstanding leadership, service, and scholastic achievement to both her school and community. Kennedy is ranked number two in her class and a member of the Student Council, serving as a Committee Chair, Treasurer and Public Relations officer. She has been her class President for four years and is a Co-Chair of Mini-THON. She is also the President of the Hispanic Honor Society, a member of the National Honor Society and Vice President of the "Dawg Pound," the school spirit club.  She is a member of the Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Bocce Ball team, Volleyball team and Track & Field teams. She plans to attend a four year college to major in psychology. The Carlisle Rotary Club honors extraordinary students each month from Big Spring, South Middleton, and Carlisle School Districts.

The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Anna Book as the October Student of the Month.  She is a senior at Boiling Springs High School and the daughter of George and Abby Book of Boiling Springs, PA.  She received this recognition for exhibiting outstanding leadership, service, and scholastic achievement to both her school and community. Anna is a member of the Student Council, serving as treasurer, President of the Interact Club and Treasurer of Mu Alpha Theta(Math Club) . She is also a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Club President, National Spanish Honor Society, the finance chair of Mini -THON and a member of the Track & Field team. She plans to attend college to major in Spanish and pursue her goal to become a Spanish teacher.  The Carlisle Rotary Club honors extraordinary students each month from Big Spring, South Middleton, and Carlisle School Districts.

Cynthia Pontious

The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Morgan Pontious as the September Student of the Month.  She is a senior at Carlisle High School and the daughter of James and Cynthia Pontious of Carlisle, PA.  She received this recognition for exhibiting outstanding leadership, service, and scholastic achievement to both her school and community. 
Morgan is first in her class at Carlisle High School with a grade point average over 4.5, while taking numerous advance placement and honors classes. She is a member of the Student Council having served as treasurer for the past three years, is a member of the National Honor Society and English Honor Society and a member of the Quiz Bowl team. She is also a member of the tennis team and track team. She plans to attend college to major in political science and finance and then attend law school.
