In May, Rotary focuses on Youth Service. We are preparing for the annual Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) which will be held June 8-12 at Messiah University.
What better way is there to support our Youth than the Flowers for Scholars hanging basket sale? This year the flower pick up is on May 8th at John W. Gleim, Jr., Inc. The following Saturday, May 11th, the Carlisle Rotary Club will hang our signature flower baskets in Downtwon Carlisle.
We will also honor our May Student of the Month from Big Spring High School, Sydney Adler.
On April 3rd we welcomed MG David Hill, the Commandant of the U.S. Army War College, and his wife. The War College offers it's students a rigorous, in-depth, and competitive education in strategic studies. This year, the college has 287 US soldiers attending and 81 international soldiers. On Thursday April 10th we welcomed LTC Brennan Speakes. US Army and Col. Benjamin Irving, Royal Canadian Army. LTC Speaks is a student at the War College as is Col Irvine, who is studying here on behalf of the Canadian military. Pictured with President-elect Deborah Sweaney.
On Thursday April 24th, Beth Kempf, Executive Director of Carlisle Community CARES will speak to the club. This organization provides for those in the community facing housing insecurity.

Rotarians in Action!
Our Rotary Club is working with the Carlisle Exchange Club on their Child Abuse Awareness project. All the money collected through this project has been donated to Domestic Violence.
Rotarians will be hanging flower baskets in downtown Carlisle on May 11th, just in time for Mother's Day.
Rotary District 7390 completed its multidistrict conference in April at the Hershey Lodge.
